Dana White Goes Nuclear, Rips Top Rank, Golden Boy, and Hearn After Opetaia Fight
THESE GUYS ARE F-ING TERRIBLE!” If you were expecting Dana White to tip-toe into the sport of boxing, you haven’t been paying attention for the last 20 years. Fresh off the heels of another massive night for his Zuffa Boxing venture—headlined by a typically brutal Jai Opetaia performance—the UFC boss didn’t hold back. In fact, he declared open season on the current boxing establishment, and specifically, the promoters who have ruled the sport for decades. Standing in front of the media, White was asked about the landscape his new promotion is entering. His response wasn’t just a soundbite; it was a full-scale detonation on the "old guard." "Bob Arum and Top Rank?" White scoffed. "Let’s talk about that. Bob Arum has been in boxing for 50 years. Fifty years in the business, and right now? He doesn't have a TV deal." White turned to the crowd, playing to the room. "Does Top Rank have a TV deal right now? No. There’s nothing there. How are we supposed to work with that? Top Rank ain’t put a fight on this year!" But he was just getting warmed up. "Oscar De La Hoya? Don't even get me started on that f*g guy." White waved his hand dismissively, signaling that the Golden Boy promoter wasn't even worth the oxygen. "Golden Boy is irrelevant in this conversation." White then turned his attention to the financial heavyweights of the sport. "PBC? They haven't put a fight on." And then, he saved his most biting sarcasm for the man he once tried to do business with, Matchroom's Eddie Hearn. "Eddie Hearn?" White laughed, shaking his head. "Eddie is a manager now. He's my rival? My rival? Holy shit." The Zuffa boss looked genuinely bewildered by the lack of competition. "Look at this," White continued. "I am four fights into this boxing thing. Four fights. And these guys are f*g terrible at their jobs. They have had their whole lives to figure this out, and they are fumbling around in the dark." He ended the tirade with a simple, mic-drop goodnight before walking off, leaving the boxing world to pick up the pieces of his verbal assault. Is he right? The landscape is fractured. With Top Rank struggling for network real estate, PBC’s schedule looking sparse, and Hearn seemingly pivoting his role, Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing is walking into a vacuum. WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU! This is exactly the kind of heated debate we love here at LatestBoxing.com. Dana White says the current promoters are "terrible." Bob Arum says Zuffa doesn't know the sweet science. Where do you stand? Are you ready for Dana White to save boxing from the promoters, or do you think he's in for a rude awakening when he deals with the real politics of the sport?
