Hrgovic Overwhelms Allen; Corner Halts Contest After Three Rounds
Filip Hrgovic proved far too strong for Dave Allen at the Eco-Power Stadium in Doncaster on Saturday night, forcing Allen’s corner to throw in the towel in the third round of their main‑event clash. The bout, which headlined a Queensberry Promotions card live on DAZN, was fought for the vacant IBF Intercontinental heavyweight title. From the opening bell Hrgovic (19-1, 14 KOs) used his size and sharp jab to control the distance, while Allen (25-8-2, 20 KOs) struggled to find a way past the Croatian’s heavy hands. By the third round the cumulative punishment had become clear, and Allen’s team wisely intervened to protect the brave hometown favourite. The victory moves Hrgovic a step closer to a possible summer showdown with rising star Moses Itauma. On the undercard, Louie O’Doherty (11-0) defended his British lightweight title and picked up the vacant Commonwealth crown with a points win over Ahmed Hatim (12-0). Elsewhere, Michael Gomez Jr. edged past Lee McGregor in a ten‑round lightweight battle, while Carl Fail remained unbeaten with a wide decision over Luis Enrique Montelongo Morales.
