Fight week is officially here as Oleksandr Usyk prepares to defend his WBC heavyweight title against legendary kickboxer Rico Verhoeven in the historic ‘Glory in Giza’ event. Set for Saturday, May 23, 2026, the spectacle will unfold against the breathtaking backdrop of the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt. The event is promoted by The Ring Magazine, backed by Turki Alalshikh and Matchroom Boxing, and will be broadcast live worldwide on DAZN pay-per-view. The undercard is stacked with world title implications. In the chief support bout, Hamzah Sheeraz (22-0-1) faces Alem Begic (29-0-1) for the vacant WBO super middleweight title. At welterweight, Jack Catterall (32-2) takes on undefeated Uzbek Shakhram Giyasov (17-0) for the WBA ‘Regular’ welterweight title.
