According to Hearn, the offer was detailed in an email from Benn’s lawyer, proposing the six-figure sum in exchange for Hearn refraining from making negative public comments about the split. The Matchroom boss, who guided Benn from his 2016 debut, recounted his furious response: “F—k off”. He also turned down a role as the fighter’s special advisor, labelling it a “load of shit”. The surprising offer followed Benn’s lucrative move to Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing—initially a $15 million one-fight deal—and a subsequent multi-fight extension in April. Hearn has maintained that his core issue with the situation is the manner of Benn’s exit rather than the financials, and he remains adamant that Benn was a free agent able to negotiate elsewhere.
