American Heavyweights Vanish from BoxRec’s Top 15 in Historic Shift
For the first time in years, not a single American features among the world’s top 15 heavyweights on BoxRec, underlining a seismic power shift in boxing’s marquee division. Ukraine’s undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk sits firmly at No.1, with Britain’s Daniel Dubois at No.2 after his explosive rise. Germany’s Agit Kabayel, Tyson Fury, and Russia’s Murat Gassiev complete the top five. The list continues with Anthony Joshua, Lawrence Okolie, Fabio Wardley, Filip Hrgovic, and Richard Riakporhe, before Cuban Frank Sanchez, New Zealand’s Joseph Parker, Nigeria’s Efe Ajagba, and teenage sensation Moses Itauma. Rounding out the fifteen is Ukraine’s Umar Salamov—a light heavyweight by trade—adding a curious footnote to an otherwise sobering reality for US boxing. Once a factory of heavyweight kings, from Louis and Ali to Tyson and Holyfield, America now finds itself locked out of the elite conversation. Its brightest contenders languish outside the top tier, while European and international names dominate the rankings from top to bottom. With the sport’s centre of gravity continuing to shift across the Atlantic, the cold, hard numbers leave no room for argument. Photo credit: Frank Warren / Facebook
