PUNCH PERFECT Adam Azim stops Steve Claggett in three rounds in London
Adam Azim calls for world title fight after brilliant blitz of Steve Claggett LONDON, England – Steve Claggett walked to the ring at Wembley Arena to the Frank Sinatra classic “That’s Life,” but his night ended in brutal fashion as Adam Azim produced a devastating punch-perfect performance to stop him in three rounds in devastating fashion. Azim, 22, was a violent blur, unleashing the fastest hands in British boxing. Claggett, a 34-year-old warhorse, simply couldn’t cope with the Slough star’s searing speed and spiteful combinations. A laser right hand detonated on Claggett’s chin in round two, sending him crashing to the canvas. Early in the third, a sustained blitz forced referee Michael Alexander to step in at 1:56, sending the crowd into raptures. After the stoppage, Azim didn’t waste a moment calling his shot. “I want a world title fight next,” he declared. “I’m ready for the best at 140 pounds. That performance proved I belong at the top table of boxing.” The emphatic victory moves Azim to 13-0 (10 KOs) and sets up a potential summer blockbuster. For Claggett, “That’s Life” has rarely felt more unforgiving. Photo: DAZN
