Deontay Wilder vs Derek Chisora prediction: Who wins and how?

Aging sluggers Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora meet in Greenwich this Saturday. Who wins? By Latest Boxing Staff Sporting a combined age of 82, two heavyweight veterans get the spotlight this Saturday when Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora collide at the O2 Arena in Greenwich. Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) snapped a miserable 1-4 skid last June with a rout of Tyrell Herndon. That victory marked just his second win since 2019. The former WBC champion’s once-fearsome reputation took hits against Tyson Fury (twice), Joseph Parker, and Zhilei Zhang. Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs) finds himself on a rare three-fight win streak. “War” Derek has toppled Gerald Washington, Joe Joyce, and most recently Otto Wallin. At 42 years old, the British brawler is defying Father Time. So, does Wilder have one more bomb left in the chamber? Or will Old Man Chisora continue his geriatric rampage through the UK countryside? The prediction Look, we’ll do our best to justify this. But the feeling here is a Wilder knockout. The kicker is pacing. Chisora isn’t getting Wilder out of there early. He’s landed a few solid knockdowns in recent efforts, including that big one against Joyce, but his last stoppage win came in 2019. Wilder is a tough nut to crack when you’re not packing cannons like Zhilei Zhang. That means 12 rounds of “don’t get hit by the incredibly obvious punch.” Joseph Parker managed it. But Chisora is nowhere near as measured and considerate as Parker. He’s only truly effective at point-blank range. He stomps the gas early and loses evasiveness down the stretch. Wilder’s economical approach generally allows his power to carry late. That assumes he actually lets that power go. But against Herndon, Wilder was willing to throw the right hand and kept his jab in play instead of waiting for a home run. He won’t freeze up the way he did against Parker, especially not against someone so eager to throw himself into the firing line. The verdict Chisora should get off to his usual roaring start. But Wilder outlasts the surge and capitalizes when Chisora’s defense starts to fail him. Prediction: Wilder by mid-to-late round KO. --- Photo credit: Derek Chisora Facebook Who you got?
