Green Conscious and Talking After Scary Stretcher Exit at MSG

NEW YORK – Boxing held its collective breath late Friday night at The Theater at Madison Square Garden as Shadasia Green was removed from the ring on a stretcher. Fortunately, early updates from Most Valuable Promotions offer significant relief. Green suffered a ninth-round TKO loss to New Zealand's Lani Daniels in a fight that grew increasingly one-sided as Daniels' superior work rate exploited holes in the Paterson native's defense. Referee Eric Dali waved off the bout after Daniels poured on unanswered punishment, but the celebration quickly turned somber as medical staff attended to Green. Mike Leanardi, MVP's director of boxing, provided an encouraging update during the post-fight press conference. "Shadasia is awake and talkative," Leanardi stated. "It was a scary moment for all of us, but she's looking much better." Green (unified 168-pound champion entering the bout) was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, with MVP co-founder Nakisa Bidarian accompanying her. Daniels, now a three-division champion at 12-4-2, muted her own celebration out of respect. "Best of luck and respect to my opponent," Daniels said. "I hope that everything is well." Daniels herself planned a precautionary hospital visit before her 18-hour journey home to New Zealand. LatestBoxing.com will continue to monitor Green's condition.
