Errol Spence Jr. vs. Tim Tszyu Locked In for July 25 in Australia

Errol Spence Jr.’s long road back to the ring will finally end on foreign soil. The former unified welterweight champion will face Australia’s Tim Tszyu on July 26 local time (July 25 in the US) in a Prime Video pay-per-view main event, as first reported by Dan Rafael. Spence (28-1, 22 KOs) has not fought since a one-sided ninth-round stoppage loss to Terence Crawford in July 2023, a bout that saw him dropped three times. The near three-year layoff raises questions, but the 36-year-old is eyeing this matchup as a gateway back to title contention in the talent-rich 154-pound division. Tszyu (27-3, 18 KOs) has stayed far busier, competing seven times since Spence last entered the ring. However, the former WBO titleholder has dropped three of those outings, two by knockout, and recently made his second trainer change in a year, parting ways with Pedro Diaz to link up with Australian legend Jeff Fenech. For Spence, the journey Down Under is about more than a payday. A victory over Tszyu would thrust him back into the mix alongside Premier Boxing Champions stablemate Sebastian Fundora, WBA and WBO king Xander Zayas, and top contenders Jaron “Boots” Ennis and Vergil Ortiz Jr. Photo: The Ring Magazine
