The Japanese superstar delivered a masterclass to defeat Junto Nakatani by unanimous decision, retaining his Ring Magazine and undisputed junior featherweight world titles in a historic all-Japanese showdown. Judges’ scores read 118-110, 117-111 and 116-112, all for “The Monster.” From the opening bell, Inoue’s precision punching and blistering hand speed were on full display. He hurt Nakatani with a savage body attack in the fourth round and dropped the previously unbeaten southpaw with a signature left hook in the eighth. Nakatani, the reigning bantamweight king who dared to move up, showed incredible heart and landed clean counters, but he simply couldn’t solve Inoue’s relentless pressure and spiteful combinations. With the victory, Inoue improves to 27-0 (24 KOs) and solidifies his reign over the 122-pound division. The win cements his legacy as an all-time great, leaving no doubt that he is the king of the lower weight classes. The question now is who can possibly challenge him next.
