Jayden Price Dominates Mongolian Champion in Asian Championships Opener
The boxing world has its eyes on Uzbekistan this week, as the Asian U15 and U17 Boxing Championships in Tashkent are heating up. Already, one of the tournament's brightest stars—Team Bahrain’s Jayden Price—has delivered a statement victory. Fighting in the U17 Boys Light Bantamweight (52kg) division, the 15-year-old from Gloucester kicked off his campaign with a flawless performance against a formidable opponent from Mongolia. Stepping into the ring just 8 days after celebrating his 15th birthday (27th April), Price showed no signs of a letdown, dismantling Mongolian champion Agarzandan Batkhuyag via a dominant unanimous decision (5:0) to advance in the competition. The judges’ scorecards revealed just how one-sided the contest was, with Price sweeping every round – 30-27, 30-27, 30-26, 30-27, 30-27. "What a performance," said his team following the victory, a sentiment echoed by fans watching the young prodigy’s international campaign unfold. With this win, Price’s official boxing record now stands at an astonishing 91 wins and just 5 losses – an incredible achievement for any boxer, let alone a 15-year-old. This triumph in Central Asia is just the latest chapter in an extraordinary journey. Price began his combat sports career at the age of 6, amassing over 200 fights across BJJ, MMA, and wrestling before transitioning exclusively to boxing. It was a move that paid off in spectacular fashion. Representing his new nation, Bahrain – after being personally recruited by Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa – Price has gone on to conquer the amateur scene. His growing trophy cabinet includes the prestigious Asian Champion title, 4x England National Champion, USA National Champion, and the winner of the 27/27 Box Cup – having already beaten 28 national champions along the way. Under the expert guidance of his father Lee Price and coach Amin Khan at Truth Boxing Club in Gloucester, the sky seems to be the limit. With this emphatic win over Batkhuyag, Price has sent a clear message to the rest of the U17 division. As the Asian Championships continue in Tashkent, the English-born sensation is storming towards his next gold medal. Photo credit: Jayden Price Facebook
