Jayden Price Battles Past Scrappy Tajik Champion to Stay Perfect in Tashkent
TASHKENT, Uzbekistan — Bahrain’s teenage sensation Jayden Price made it two wins from two at the Asian U15 & U17 Boxing Championships, overcoming a rugged Tajikistan champion to advance in the U17 Light Bantamweight (52kg) division. Price, fighting just days after his dominant opening victory over a Mongolian champion, started with trademark authority. The 15-year-old Gloucester native delivered a standing count in the opening round, sweeping it 5-0 on all five judges’ cards. The fight turned ugly in round two. The Tajik champion, determined to disrupt Price’s rhythm, made the contest increasingly scrappy. Amid the roughhousing, Price had a point deducted — a decision his team plans to review closely. Despite the setback, he lost the round narrowly, 2-3. With the bout potentially slipping, Price showcased his composure beyond his years. Regathering in the third, he reasserted his dominance with crisp combinations and sharp footwork, closing the fight with a 4-1 round and sealing the victory. Had the point not been deducted, the scorecards would have reflected an even more commanding performance. The win keeps Price firmly on course for another international gold medal, adding to his already remarkable resume. Photo credit: Jayden Price Facebook
