Comeback of the Year 2026: Did Ben Davidson Leave Fabio Wardley in Too Long?💥🥊

WHAT A WAR. Saturday night gave us an instant classic and the undisputed Comeback of the Year for 2026. Daniel Dubois climbed off the canvas twice in the opening four rounds to finally break down a lion-hearted Fabio Wardley, regaining his heavyweight world champion status in front of a stunned DAZN audience. #WardleyDubois delivered everything it promised — and then some. TWO TIME world champion. 🗣️ Yet, as the dust settles on this brutal shootout, the roar of celebration is being drowned out by a much darker conversation: the role of Fabio Wardley’s corner, led by Ben Davidson. Nobody can question Wardley’s heart. The man soaked up hellacious punishment from round nine onward, refusing to wilt even as his legs betrayed him and Dubois thudded home sickening right hands. That courage is precisely why the man in the corner must save a fighter from himself. Davidson did not. For two desperate, one-sided rounds before the eventual stoppage, Wardley was a walking target, absorbing the type of cumulative damage that shortens careers and alters lives. It was terrible corner work, plain and simple. A coach’s primary job is to look after their fighter, and in that moment, Fabio Wardley was let down. The towel stayed stubbornly draped over the ropes. It should have been thrown in much earlier. That’s the debate raging through the boxing world right now, and we want to hear from you, the Latest Boxing members. Was Davidson guilty of chasing a miracle at the expense of his fighter’s wellbeing, or did Wardley’s incredible resilience justify letting him continue hunting for one final Hail Mary?
