Zuffa Boxing Already Active as Kellerman’s Rival-Promotion Comments Draw Fire
Max Kellerman’s enthusiastic promotion of the new Zuffa Boxing venture has come under renewed scrutiny, as a Facebook clip of the analyst resurfaces alongside uncomfortable facts about the league’s timeline and a controversial take on a Queensberry Promotions classic. Despite the fanfare surrounding its Paramount+ launch, Zuffa Boxing was not starting from zero. The company had already staged multiple events before the heavily marketed “Zuffa Boxing 01” in January 2026. Cards headlined by Callum Walsh and world cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia were in the books, quietly building a roster while the promotional machine focused on a narrative of disruptive beginnings. Kellerman’s commentary, however, framed the league as a fresh revolution, glossing over this operational head start. The pattern has sharpened criticism of the analyst’s objectivity. When British heavyweights Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois delivered an instant classic under Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions banner — a brutal, back-and-forth war widely hailed as a Fight of the Year contender — Kellerman broke ranks with almost unanimous praise. He dismissed the contest as “not great,” a verdict that baffled fans and promoters alike. The timing did not go unnoticed. Zuffa Boxing, backed by Dana White and Turki Alalshikh, is a direct competitor to Warren’s outfit. For a lead broadcaster to pan a rival promotion’s headline success while talking up his own employer’s product struck many as a conflict of interest. Whether a genuine artistic judgement or a subtle body blow to a competing stable, the remark has left a sour taste. As Zuffa builds its footprint, the credibility of its on-air voices will be tested just as sharply as the fighters they cover. For now, the clip on Kellerman’s Facebook page remains a talking point for those questioning where the line between analysis and advocacy truly lies. Photo credit: Max Kellerman / Facebook
